eVisas
Biometric Residence Permits (BRPs) which have been issued recently have an expiry date of 31 December 2024. It doesn’t mean that your leave (or visa) expires at that time (except if, by coincidence, your leave expires just on that day, which is unlikely). It is because the Home Office is moving to an online visa system: after 31 December 2024, you will have an eVisa instead of a BRP.
To access your eVisa, you need to create a UKVI account online now.
Once your UKVI account is created, you will be able to see your eVisa, which will show the date your leave expires. Note that some people won’t see their eVisa details immediately on their account, it will appear later in the year.
To create your UKVI account, you will need your BRP card. If you have lost your BRP card, you can use your travel document, such as a passport, or visa application reference number. Once you have created your eVisa, we strongly encourage you to keep your expired BRP (or other documents) in a safe place, for future reference.
For more information, visit www.gov.uk/evisa and create your UKVI account.
