2026 Solidarity Fund for Immigration cases

Haringey Migrant Support Centre (HMSC) provides support, advice and casework to vulnerable migrants in London on immigration, welfare and housing issues.

We are raising funds to provide urgent financial assistance to our visitors (clients) who cannot afford to move forward with their immigration matters.

Many of our visitors are seeking to regularise their stay in the UK by applying for leave to remain, renewing their existing leave or obtaining indefinite leave. Others are simply unable to evidence a status they already hold. These processes require obtaining documents, covering lawyers’ fees, and paying staggering Home Office fees. Each application becomes a massive hurdle, with costs that continue to rise, pushing our visitors further into destitution, debt, and homelessness.

In 2024, we raised over £7,000 to help our visitors progress their immigration case. The money has nearly run out, let’s do it again!

All the money is used directly to cover immigration-related costs, thus having a life-changing impact. For example, last year:

  • We paid for a DNA test (£400) for a child to prove their British nationality and obtain a British passport.
  • We contributed £400 towards an application fee for Indefinite Leave to Remain, subsequently granted.
  • In several cases, we contributed to the fees of low-cost lawyers, enabling extension applications to be submitted on time (£400–500 each).
  • We supported several participants in our “20 Years Project” (applications based on long residence) to obtain a passport from their home country (£50–100), which is necessary to regularise their stay in the UK.

This year, we aim to raise £10,000 over the next three months to rebuild our Solidarity Fund. Supporting and empowering our communities through practical assistance is essential in resisting the hostile environment, but we cannot make this fund possible without your help.

Support us if you can!
